Henry Wyard at graduation with sister (Paris Wyard) and mother (Susan Verrochi). (Photo taken by Croce Verrochi)

My name is Henry Wyard, and I am a junior at the University of Connecticut pursuing a double major in Communications and Journalism. I have played sports for nearly my entire life, and loved every second of my time in youth sports.

In my town, youth sports was everything, nearly all of my friends that I have made at home came from sharing time with them on the soccer field or on the basketball court.

Even from when I was a young child to now, what sports kids are playing and how they are being played is different. The current landscape of youth sports is whole other world now compared to what it used to be like, and I thought it was would be interesting to see how such an important social construct for children has changed over the years.
