As a history aficionado and someone with an interest in the Civil War, the issue of flag banning is one I find fascinating. The claims from some people that the banning violates the First Amendment rights of citizens also intrigue me as someone interested in law.
This project explains the history and controversy surrounding the removal of Confederate iconography, specifically the “stars and bars” flag. As attitudes across the country change and shift, things that once were tolerated or promoted are being cast away in the interest of social unity. This website documents just a few instances of this.
