I work at UCon\u00adn\u2019s stu\u00addent news\u00adpa\u00adper, The Dai\u00adly Cam\u00adpus,<\/a> as a copy\u00aded\u00adi\u00adtor and intern at the New York based non\u00adprof\u00adit, Wit\u00adness to Mass Incar\u00adcer\u00ada\u00adtion,<\/a> where I\u2019ve writ\u00adten over a dozen sto\u00adries. Through these expe\u00adri\u00adences I\u2019ve gained essen\u00adtial skills required of a jour\u00adnal\u00adist in today\u2019s dig\u00adi\u00adtal land\u00adscape. Most impor\u00adtant\u00adly, I\u2019ve learned how to wield my pas\u00adsion for storytelling.<\/span><\/p>\n \n\n <\/span><\/p>\n When I\u2019m not study\u00ading, I\u2019m play\u00ading soc\u00adcer com\u00adpet\u00adi\u00adtive\u00adly and indulging in artis\u00adtic hob\u00adbies includ\u00ading paint\u00ading, pot\u00adtery, and poet\u00adry. Addi\u00adtion\u00adal\u00adly, I\u2019ve spent the past two sum\u00admers as a camp coun\u00adselor at a sleep\u00adaway camp<\/a> in upstate New York, where I\u2019ve learned the impor\u00adtance of effec\u00adtive com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion and leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n \n\n <\/span><\/p>\n My jour\u00adney into jour\u00adnal\u00adism began as a quest for bal\u00adance to com\u00adple\u00adment my stud\u00adies in Fine Arts. What cap\u00adti\u00advates me about jour\u00adnal\u00adism is its rich his\u00adtor\u00adi\u00adcal con\u00adtext and its abil\u00adi\u00adty to shape and reflect the world around us. I believe jour\u00adnal\u00adism plays a cru\u00adcial role in mak\u00ading sense of com\u00adplex issues. <\/span><\/p>\n In today\u2019s dig\u00adi\u00adtal age, I rely heav\u00adi\u00adly on online plat\u00adforms like Twit\u00adter for break\u00ading news updates, but I also val\u00adue in-depth report\u00ading from estab\u00adlished news out\u00adlets. One of my favorite sources of news is NPR, and I\u2019m par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adly fond of NYT\u2019s <\/span>The Dai\u00adly<\/a> pod\u00adcast for its com\u00adpelling sto\u00adry\u00adtelling and inves\u00adtiga\u00adtive journalism.<\/span><\/p>\n Thank you for tak\u00ading the time to learn a bit about me.
