Written Work

Below are examples of my reporting and writing published by Witness to Mass Incarceration and The Daily Campus. During the winter and spring of 2023 and 2024, I worked for Witness writing articles and collaborating in a team of journalists. Only the most polished pieces would publish since these profiles were very delicate in nature. I also included writing and reporting from my college news writing classes.

These pieces demonstrate my ability to talk to anyone, ask the write questions and then get to the heart of the story. This is something Evie Litwok from Witness really helped me to do in my senior year of college.

Breaking the Cycle with Marilynn B. Winn

Featured as an impactful figure in Witness’ archive of formerly incarcerated individuals who have a story to share, I wrote about the efforts of Marilynn Winn to improve Atlanta’s prison system.  She’s been acknowledged nationally and locally as a warrior for social justice. “I have experienced it, I have lived it, breathed it, ate it, slept on it—I’m a part of it.”

In a post-COVID society, seniors are trying to navigate a more cautious and individualistic population. In this article, I interviewed seniors and people working in senior services in the New Haven area. I explore where the elderly receive community support, specifically in notoriously affluent areas like Greenwich, CT.

For many Americans, COVID took more than a few years of normalcy from their life. For COVID pioneers like Heather DeLuca who were exposed as early as April 2020, mental and physical health regressed in a way that required capable individuals to start from step one. I interviewed this former hospital worker during the pivotal months after the COVID outbreak when long COVID was still the shadowy threat to the United States.

New England has its finger in every pie when it comes to cannabis research and the University of Connecticut has been a notable leader of the cause. Scholarship is only getting more fleshed out, and soon, the world will know far more about the fuzzy, smelly green plant. I interviewed UConn professor Dr. Gerald Berkowitz who has spearheaded UConn cannabis research.
