Coming into UConn, I was initially a pre-med student. However, once I realized understanding the concept of an atomic number was an uphill battle, I quickly came to the conclusion I shouldn’t spend $20,000 a year on studying something I hate. So, I did the very thing most don’t do as an undergraduate, I switched to something I found interesting — pre-law/journalism. I found the two are quite good parallels and frankly, if law school exits the picture, I one day wish to follow my true dream of becoming a PA (more specifically, a PA like Michael Buffer). However, my current goal is to become acclimated with all aspects of journalism, including online journalism. My entire news diet comes from Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and MTV, so essentially anything Internet related is how I remain tuned in with the world. My favorites happen to be Instagram and Twitter, just because I can get the best of both worlds with pictures (via Instagram), and all I need to know in 140 characters or less on Twitter.

Stories I’ve found interest in through these media outlets are the ALS awareness challenges and the Michael Brown case. Although trivial, I’d like to know what it takes to make a great tweet or a newsworthy Instagram in this course. However, I’d love to tell stories, as previously mentioned, through radio, PA (not necessarily stories) and television.
