As part of the live news cov­er­age assign­ment, you will be required to LIVE TWEET dur­ing the event, at least 5 times with the hash­tag #J3005. You must also take pho­tographs (wide, medi­um and tight shots) and con­duct inter­views with par­tic­i­pants, audi­ence mem­bers and/or orga­niz­ers. Audio or video is option­al. Sto­ry and pho­tos and tweets must be post­ed online in a “Stori­fy” 48 hours after the event ends.

Prepa­ra­tion is key when cov­er­ing a live event. Con­duct research ahead of time. Gath­er as much infor­ma­tion and mul­ti­me­dia (pho­tos, videos, hyper­links, documents/pdfs, data, etc.) as you can before the event. Write the shell of your sto­ry ahead of time. By pre-writ­ing your sto­ry, it will help you file faster and meet your dead­line. Arrive ear­ly at your event to get your­self sit­u­at­ed in a good spot and so you can move around.
