Well, actually, the video doesn’t make much sense either.
But that may be just the point that MO tries to make in the song. It centers on the ideas of love, loss, and letting go. Though it seems sorrowful, the song actually celebrates the beauty of life and its constant cycles. She sings to an unknown person and explains how the things that happen in life, the things we can’t control, shouldn’t add bitterness to our hearts “of gold.” The song reminds us not to blame ourselves when things go wrong, but to keep going with the flow and balance of life. She invites all listeners to “take a run” with her, see through her perspective, “where the sky is blue forever.”
An even better version of the song was remixed by Joe Hertz, and this same version was remixed into Odesza’s hour-long set, No.Sleep.Mix 0.2. Skip to 7:55 for the song, and one of my favorite DJ mixes of 2014.
