Hello everyone! I’m Kwasi Osei-Amankwah, a Ghanaian-American from Great Neck, NY. I am an avid sports enthusiast with a keen eye for detail and a huge passion for storytelling. As a 2025 University of Connecticut graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a minor in Communication, I have developed effective writing, reporting, and narrative storytelling skills.
My experience includes working with FOX61 during my sports reporting course, covering Connecticut’s soccer team, The Hartford Athletic. I helped FOX61 sports anchor Jonah Karp under the wing of my instructor, ESPN Features Producer Steve Buckheit. My role involved interviewing players and coaches and editing media to ensure it was ready for presentation on deadline. I also created, executive produced, and hosted my sports podcast, ModoOnTheMic. Most recently, I’ve had work published by the Hartford Courant and CTMirror.
Every role I’ve had, in all the jobs and places I’ve worked, and all the challenges I’ve faced have helped shape me into who I am today. I graduated from UConn by paying for college alone while helping my mother, who fell ill in 2021.
In 2020, I participated in the Black Lives Matter movement, representing my neighborhood’s tiny black community and contributing through speeches and community engagement in Great Neck, NY. I am always committed to using my platform to promote inclusivity, equality, peace, and positive change.
While I am unapologetically myself, I aspire to grow my writing, verbal, and visual communication skills. I aim to produce content that resonates with young and old minds and encourages others to pursue their passions. I plan to connect with as many people as possible and learn everything I can to make these goals a reality so I can pave the way for others like me.
