HuskyTHON has tak\u00aden place now for mul\u00adti\u00adple years at UConn grow\u00ading more pop\u00adu\u00adlar each year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the day of the event, stu\u00addents par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpate in activ\u00adi\u00adties like bull rid\u00ading, obsta\u00adcle cours\u00ades, and espe\u00adcial\u00adly danc\u00ading. A spe\u00adcial Morale dance, led by stu\u00addents on the moral team, takes place on the hour every hour to raise mon\u00adey for the kids at CCMC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
HuskyTHON also allows the patients at CCMC to par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpate in the activ\u00adi\u00adties and share their sto\u00adries at the event. They call them mir\u00ada\u00adcle chil\u00addren and the whole day is ded\u00adi\u00adcat\u00aded to them. Most of the chil\u00addren who are involved are young patients who have under\u00adgone major surg\u00aderies and still seek treat\u00adment at CCMC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many dif\u00adfer\u00adent orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtions at UConn par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpate in huskyTHON. The big\u00adger orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtions are the ones that typ\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly have a mir\u00ada\u00adcle child they hang out with dur\u00ading their time at the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
HuskyTHON has many dif\u00adfer\u00adent lead\u00ader\u00adship roles. There are vol\u00adun\u00adteers that help set up and run dif\u00adfer\u00adent activ\u00adi\u00adties, dancers who are part of an orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion and dance every hour, dancer rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtives who look after the mir\u00ada\u00adcle chil\u00addren dur\u00ading the day and are in charge of their organization\u2019s fundrais\u00ading, morale cap\u00adtains who are some of the top fundrais\u00aders that learn and teach the dances to every\u00adone, and the man\u00adage\u00adment team who orga\u00adnize and put togeth\u00ader the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the dancers who was part of the Alpha Phi Greek orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion, Car\u00adley Schmidt, a sopho\u00admore and first-year dancer had a lot to say about how amaz\u00ading her time was at the event. \u201cIt was awe\u00adsome and so great to dance with my friends for a good cause.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When asked if it was a chal\u00adlenge to stay the whole time Car\u00adley stat\u00aded, \u201cI thought it was going to be hard to stay but there was nev\u00ader a moment where I want\u00aded to leave. It was such an incred\u00adi\u00adble expe\u00adri\u00adence.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To get a more in-depth look at all the work that went into HuskyTHON one of the man\u00adage\u00adment team mem\u00adbers, senior, Jade Strass\u00adner, gave insight into the work it takes to put on such an extra\u00ador\u00addi\u00adnary event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Strass\u00adner was the Co-Direc\u00adtor of Dancer Rela\u00adtions. Her posi\u00adtion entailed being the liai\u00adson between the inter\u00adnal Man\u00adage\u00adment team and the rest of HuskyTHON. All infor\u00adma\u00adtion that she need\u00aded to get out to the pub\u00adlic would go through Strass\u00adner then to the cap\u00adtains of each team at week\u00adly meet\u00adings and in week\u00adly digests sent out through email. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHon\u00adest\u00adly, a lot of work went into HuskyTHON this year! I think the hard\u00adest part about this year was that we had to attend all Man\u00adage\u00adment, Mem\u00adber\u00adship, Morale, and DR Meet\u00adings which took about 9 hours each week.\u201d Strass\u00adner said when asked about her time com\u00admit\u00adment to HuskyTHON. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Strass\u00adner also men\u00adtioned that one of the rea\u00adsons she is so com\u00admit\u00adted to this orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion is because she has a per\u00adson\u00adal con\u00adnec\u00adtion to the cause and CCMC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have been a patient of Con\u00adnecti\u00adcut Chil\u00addren\u2019s since I was younger and still see my doc\u00adtors and the nurs\u00ades at the infu\u00adsion cen\u00adter. Par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpat\u00ading in HuskyTHON with my soror\u00adi\u00adty fresh\u00adman year opened my eyes as to what this orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion does for kids like me, and I knew I want\u00aded to get more involved to give back!\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
