The UConn men’s basketball team faced off with the Villanova Wildcats for the final time as non-conference opponents. Unlike the previous two matchups, this game was tight throughout. UConn dominated in the paint, but Villanova’s superior three-point shooting was enough to give them the 61–55 win.

NFL running backs with 300+ carries in a season since 1994: Data Visualization

In the last 25 years, the game of football has greatly changed.  NFL offenses don’t rely on a workhorse running back anymore and, as a result, such running backs have become nearly extinct.

As seen in the following chart, the late 1990s and 2000s were dominated by running backs carrying the ball over 300 times every season. In a few seasons, the number even hit double digits. But since 2013, there hasn’t been more than two running backs with that many carries.

With more of a focus on player safety today and the NFL becoming more of a quarterback league, this is far from a surprising development.
