The crash of the cryp­tocur­ren­cy mar­ket has been well doc­u­ment­ed. Unprece­dent­ed down­turns have Bit­coin, the world’s biggest dig­i­tal coin, down 70 per­cent from its high in Novem­ber 2021. But what exact­ly is caus­ing con­cerns for pop­u­lar cur­ren­cies like Bit­coin and Ethereum? It’s a bit more com­pli­cat­ed than many think. The sus­tain­abil­i­ty of cryp­to min­ing has always been in ques­tion. Ener­gy bills con­tin­ue to stay high as the mar­ket keeps falling. Mans­field­’s Oppor­tu­ni­ty Zones Set the Stage for Poten­tial Development

The approval of Mans­field becom­ing a fed­er­al­ly des­ig­nat­ed oppor­tu­ni­ty zone puts the town in a unique situation.

An oppor­tu­ni­ty zone encour­ages devel­op­ment in cer­tain areas by pro­vid­ing a tax advan­tage to low income areas by allow­ing invest­ment in those areas.

The Mans­field town coun­cil is dis­cussing devel­op­ment in the Four Cor­ners area and most are opti­mistic, but Coun­cil­man David Freud­mann does­n’t like that the pro­posed project has many sim­i­lar­i­ties to the project that took place in the Down­town Storrs area. He said tax­pay­ers are still pay­ing for that project today.

West­ern Mid­dle School Unveils Plaque in Mem­o­ry of Steven Sudell

West­er Mid­dle School unveiled a plaque above the kind­ness rock gar­den at West­ern Mid­dle School in ded­i­ca­tion to Steven Sudell on Tuesday.

Sudell was a stu­dent in Green­wich Pub­lic Schools before he was diag­nosed with brain can­cer in 2017. He died in the fall of 2018 and his for­mer mid­dle school decid­ed to hon­or him with a plaque in his name above a gar­den of paint­ed rocks.

Green­wich res­i­dents voiced their dis­plea­sure for Eversource’s request to remove trees on Indi­an Field Road at a pub­lic hear­ing held by Parks & Recreation.

Mul­ti­ple Green­wich res­i­dents that live in the area did not want to see trees brought down near their homes. Ever­source stat­ed their case to have the trees removed which was based on mak­ing the area eas­i­ly acces­si­ble to their trucks.
