Executive Order 14156: “Securing Our Borders”

U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Nogales Bicycle Unit discuss recent activity near the DeConcini Port of Entry. Photo by Andrew Franklin, courtesy of DHS.

Trump restated his plans to build a wall and other physical barriers along the southern border and detain immigrants suspected of violating the law. The order called for federal-state partnerships to enforce immigration policies. It also changed parole policies by ceasing the CBP One application, a free mobile application, which allowed undocumented immigrants to schedule appointments, submit information and enter the U.S. through land ports of entry. The “Processes of Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans” program was also halted starting March 25. This was a parole program that allowed people from these countries to temporarily live and work in the U.S.
