I’m Emily Sharkis, a May 2025 graduate from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s degree in a Journalism and Communication with a minor in Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality studies. I am a passionate storyteller with experiences in interviewing, copy editing, copywriting, content creation, and social media management.

I have written for a plethora of media outlets such as Bookstr.com, the Daily Campus, the UConn Journalism magazine, and Her Campus Media.

During my senior year of college, I served as President and Editor-in-Chief for Her Campus at UConn, an online pop culture and lifestyle publication. In this role, I led a team of more than 100 writers, including a 14-person executive board. I planned weekly meetings and published up to 20 articles per week. I also served as Social Media Editor of the Long River Review, UConn’s literary and arts magazine.

I am pop culture obsessed, constantly keeping my finger on the pulse of new trends and audience engagement tactics. As a content creator, I have been involved in all aspects of video production from being on-screen talent to editing and uploading content. I also produce, co-host, and edit an independent pop culture podcast called Girl Talk.

I am open to a multitude of roles and hope to combine my love for writing, producing multimedia content, and social media management. Outside of media, I can be found inside a movie theatre, advocating for mental health, or discussing intersectional feminism.
