The fair, a Windsor tradition, is sponsored by The Friends of Northwest Park. The fair is a way to showcase the Park by encouraging people to discover how the park provides leisure and educational opportunities, according to the organization.
This fair has many things to do for all ages, such as face painting, a pie eating contest and live local music to listen to.
The fair’s five-year chairman, Roger Nolter, 67, said that he is only part of the staff who put this event together.
“We have a committee of 10 people and prepare for the event in January,” Nolter said. “We contact local organizations to participate.”
A Windsor local, Josephine Finocchiaro, who attended the fair for the first time, said that she is impressed with it.
“This fair has various things for people and gives people somewhere to go as well,” Finocchiaro said.
Debby Reimer, a Windsor resident, said that events like this are convenient for the community to attend.
“It is free to people for everything and is a good thing for the town to put on each year,” Reimer said.
The Windsor Kiwanis Club, which has been coming to this fair for 20 years, was featured at this year’s fair serving customers delicious fried dough.
One of the members of the club, John Gamache, 64, said the dollars go to a good cause for the town.
“The nice thing about this fair is that all funds go to Northwest Park,” Gamache said.
Another member of the club, Tom Ponpa, 77, said that events like these are great for the community.
“This event is a fun family thing and brings a sense of community to Windsor as well,” Ponpa said.
Abby Dematos, whowas checking out doughnuts from Brown’s Harvest, said this fair enables her meet people in town she’s never come across before, as well as reconnected with established friends.
“I like seeing all my friends at events like these,” Dematos said. “They bring people together, which is a plus for the town of Windsor.”
